NFL on Break - Not For Long
DENVER, Colo. - Another NFL season has come to an end, but with the Combine, the Draft, and the looming labor issues in regard to the collective bargaining agreement, the football talk will be back before we know it.

Here is a quick look at the key questions facing all 32 NFL teams as we are just six months from training camps beginning. We will look at one division each day for the next eight days, starting with the AFC West.

AFC West

Denver Broncos

Key question: Will Brandon Marshall return in 2010? Outlook: If the CBA deems Marshall a restricted free agent, he could return to Denver at a very reasonable price in 2010, essentially becoming one of the biggest bargains in the League. Though, if head coach Josh McDaniels is serious about ridding character problems from his roster, he will not bring Marshall back, regardless of the cost benefit analysis.

San Diego Chargers

Key question: Who will replace LaDainian Tomlinson in the backfield? Outlook: One of the finest running backs in NFL history has declared he will not return to America's finest city. Many believe Darren Sproles cannot handle all or most of the carries. The Chargers have aced the draft in recent years, so if there is a replacement out there they could pair with Sproles, General Manager A.J. Smith will find him.

Kansas City Chiefs

Key question: Who looks more like the Patriots? The Chiefs or the...Patriots? Outlook: Kansas City's general manager, offensive coordinator, defensive coordinator, and quarterback all cut their teeth in New England. Scott Pioli helped select players for a team that won three Super Bowls, now's he's trying to do the same in KC. Offensive coordinator Charlie Weis returns to the NFL from a largely unsuccessful stint at Notre Dame. Romeo Crennel will try to shore a defense after he spent his previous tenure shoring up nothing in Cleveland. Quarterback Matt Cassel has a $63 million contract and worked with all three men in Foxboro. He has a nice young running back in Jamaal Charles and a talented wide receiver in Dwayne Bowe. The foundation is set though patience is the key.

Oakland Raiders

Key question: How much longer can the team try and develop JaMarcus Russell? Outlook: Owner Al Davis selected the LSU quarterback with the first overall pick in the 2007 NFL Draft. Nobody disagrees that he has an arm. Though everyone agrees that he seems to be lazy, overweight, selfish, and rapidly entering "bust' territory where his only QB contemporaries may be Ryan Leaf and Rick Mirer. How about that trifecta? Best part, all three played in the, you guessed it, AFC West.

Tomorrow: AFC East
