DENVER - Several notable Broncos players aren't expected to participate in the team's off-season workouts. And defensive tackle Marcus Thomas is one of them, at least for now.

Sources tell FOX31's Josina Anderson that Thomas has elected to remain in Florida, for now, to begin training for the upcoming season.

Additionally, Anderson learned that Broncos defensive line coachWayne Nunnely has already placed a call to Thomas inquiring about his status, and to remind him of the team's voluntary program which began Monday.

Last season, Thomas played in all 16 regular season games, recording 15 tackles in a backup role behind then starting nose tackle Ron Fields. He provided twice the production under Mike Shanahan with 34 total tackles in the season prior to last.

Newly-acquired Broncos defensive lineman Justin Bannan is expected to be the team's starting nose tackle this season.

With Thomas electing to stay in Florida for now, and the Broncos signing defensemen Bannan, Jamal Williams, and Jarvis Green in the early wave of free agency, it seems Thomas' future with the team is uncertain.
