90210 comes out of the closet
90210 has tested the water with Adrianna's experiment in homosexuality, and they must have found it inviting. Whether they simply want to take a character in a new direction or are responding to fans' and critics' call for a more in-depth exploration of same-sex relationships, 90210 will be outing one of its male characters this fall.

As to who will be changing teams, the network has narrowed it down to three: Teddy (Trevor Donovan), Navid (Michael Steger) or Liam (Matt Lanter). According to The CW, the change will also be less experimental than Adrianna's.

Ordinarily when a new plot development is teased by a network we'd chime in with our speculations, but this time we are genuinely stumped. Navid, Liam and Teddy have all had romantically intense relationships with members of the opposite sex and have shown no attraction to other men. Navid does occasionally say bro-mantic things, but then, what guy doesn't every now and then? Aside from this guy, that is.

Somehow, we like the uncertainty. Perhaps we're just hoping that The CW is sending a message that you can't label people's sexuality according to their personalities or superficial traits. We're not expecting a Ryan Murphy-like illumination of what it's like to be a gay American teenager, but we would like to be pleasantly -- if only mildly -- surprised. Is that so much to ask?
