BRIGHTON, Colo. -
The Brighton Police Department is asking for help finding 48-year-old nurse Julie Ann Kilgore.
Kilgore disappeared Tuesday around 4:30 p.m., stepping out for just a few minutes with her fiancée, Dennis Cox. Kilgore has not been seen or heard from since, hasn't answered her cell phone, and isn't in her car, which police found just a few blocks from her house.
Neighbors heard and saw nothing unusual Tuesday, they told us.
Cox, 41, has a criminal history which includes 41 charges in Colorado since 1986, including kidnapping and sexual assault. That's one possible reason why Brighton Police are sounding the alarm just a day after Kilgore went missing.
Kilgore also left her house with no one to care for her dogs, or her 7-year-old grand-niece, who she was baby-sitting.
Kilgore worked as a nurse at a number of area hospitals, off-and-on at Platte Valley Medical Center for over 20-years.
At her nursing station, her 'Missing' poster hung on the wall. And her disappearance hung like a dark cloud over her co-workers.
"She's a fine nurse and a caring nurse and someone who embodies what nursing is, so she's missed very much right now," VP of Nursing, Kurt Gensert, told us. "There's an incredible amount of concern."
Hospital Chaplain Daryl Meyers said the hospital staff was stunned.
"It's pretty much a shock. It's unbelievable," he said. "Julie was known for being caring, understanding, supportive, that type of thing."
Police are circulating Kilgore's picture, and a description of the vehicle she may be in: a tan 1993 Ford Taurus, license plate FFL972. Anyone with information should call the Brighton Police Department at 303-655-2324.
